Washburn Neighborhood expo teaches community about gardening

Spring is a few weeks away, and with it comes gardening season.

On Saturday afternoon, the Washburn Neighborhood Association held its 14th annual Garden Expo at Lincoln Middle School. The event gave area residents a chance to visit with exhibitors, taste locally-grown food and learn from gardening and landscape experts. Special guest Karl Green spoke at the event about rain gardens and their sustainable impact.

Organizers said this event is meant to answer all gardening questions one might have.

“The goal of the event is education. We want people when they leave here to have questions answered about gardening, about trees, how to trim trees, about different city services, about what different organizations are all about,” said Washburn Neighborhood Association chairman Randy Magno.
