Water-friendly landscaping project recognized in La Crosse

Nominations are being accepted for the 2021 Soak It Up! award

LA CROSSE, Wis. (WKBT) – An earth friendly project in La Crosse is getting some recognition.

The First Congregational Church was named La Crosse Area Waters Soak it Up! Award co-winner for water-friendly landscaping.

The landscaping was added to solve a problem with the solution helping in a bigger way.

“What we did was we took something that was a problem, the water and created a solution with it which was to create a garden that would harvest that water so that these native plants could thrive,” said Coulee Region Ecoscapes co-owner Jarad Barkeim.

Nominations are open for the 2021 Soak It Up! award on the la Crosse Area Waters website.
