UPDATE: Complaint sheds light on new details in Waukon mayor’s child endangerment arrest
WAUKON, IA (WKBT) — Waukon’s mayor is free on bond after being arrested for felony child endangerment.
According to the complaint filed in Allamakee County, two incidents occurred with two separate children under 42-year old Patrick Stone’s care.
Stone was asked to bring a child to the Waukon Police Department for a welfare check in March. Police discovered marks on the child and Veterans Memorial Hospital conducted an evaluation for child abuse.
A second incident occurred in May, when Veterans Memorial Hospital evaluated another child for child abuse. Staff said they observed “scattered petechial marks” on the left arm, left neck, right neck, right arm, left eye lid and behind the left ear.
According to the Winneshiek County Sheriff’s Office, a judge issued a warrant for Stone. Officers arrested him on July 1. He posted bond and was released.
Stone was first elected mayor in 2019. His current term ends in Dec. 2023.
