WEDC grant, Ashley Furniture donation funds Alma Center School District’s new “fab lab”
ALMA CENTER, Wis. (WKBT) – Some Jackson County students are getting a unique learning experience thanks to a generous grant.
The Wisconsin Economic Development Corporation gave nearly $25,000 to the School District of Alma Center to create a new “fabrication laboratory.”
“Fab labs” include new equipment like 3D printers, laser engravers, and plasma cutters
As modern technology helps shape jobs and communities, the new lab will prepare students for the careers of tomorrow.
“Technology is evolving at a rapid pace and so are the skills that are needed, in not only advanced manufacturing but also in career fields such as agriculture, health care, and other industry sectors,” said Kristopher Gengler, Ashley Funiture’s Education Foundation manager.
Ashley Furniture donated $10,000 Monday to support Alma Center’s new ‘fab lab’.
