Wendell O. Shore, aged 79 years, died at the Richland Hospital in Richland Center, Wisconsin on Sunday, January 12, 2020 from complications of congestive heart failure.
Wendell O. Shore, aged 79 years, died at the Richland Hospital in Richland Center, Wisconsin on Sunday, January 12, 2020 from complications of congestive heart failure.
Wendell was born on June 10, 1940 at home in Westford Township, Richland County, WI to Wesley A. and Carmen (Hutchins) Shore, the fourth of eight children. When he was four years old, the family moved near Valton on County Hwy. EE in Woodland Township of Sauk County. He lived in that area for most of his life.
Wendell attended the Valton Grade School and graduated from the Hillsboro High School with the Class of 1958, where he met his wife of 57 years, Judy Haenel. He was employed for several years at the General Motors Plant in Janesville. He was a veteran of the U.S. Army, spending 13 months in peacetime South Korea. In 1966 he returned to the Valton area where he was a dairy farmer for many years, a member of the Woodland Town Board and a member of the board for Henrietta, Greenwood & Union Insurance. He continued to live on his farms until the last few weeks.
Wendell is survived by his wife, Judith; two daughters, Dr. Wendelyn J. Shore of Tacoma, Washington and Stacia Shore Vaassen and her husband, Gary of Hazel Green, WI; his son, Ryan L. Shore and his wife, Teresa of Stoughton, WI; three grandsons, Ezra Vaassen, Saxton Shore and Rowan Shore; two granddaughters, Zoe Vaassen and Isabella Vaassen. He is also survived by three sisters, Clarita Gernetzke, La Vita Fanta and Trudy Hutter and her husband, Gary; two brothers, Leon Shore and his wife, Diane and Daniel Shore and his wife, Charlotte; his sister-in-law and brother-in-law, Janice and Richard Housner and many nieces and nephews.
Wendell was preceded in death by his Parents; two brothers, Gordon and Jerome Shore; two brothers-in-law, Robert Gernetzke and Raymond Fanta; nephew, Larry Fanta and his parents-in-law, Lyle and Beatrice Haenel.
He loved his country life and animals and always tried to be a good neighbor and friend.
Visitation will be held on Wednesday, January 15, 2020 from 5 to 7 p.m. at the Picha Funeral Home in Hillsboro and Funeral Services will be at St. Paul’s Lutheran Church in Hillsboro on Thursday, January 16, 2020 at 11:00 a.m. For online information go to www.pichafuneralhomes.com
