West Salem firefighters bartend for School District’s Random Acts of Kindness fund
WEST SALEM, Wis. (WKBT) — West Salem firefighters are trading fire hoses for cocktail shakers — and they’re doing it to benefit the kids.
The volunteer fire staff worked behind the Westview Inn bar between 4:30 and 8:30 p.m. on Wednesday.
Every tip they earned went to West Salem School District’s “Random Acts of Kindness” account, which helps support kids from kindergarten to senior year.
School counselors have access to the account to buy things students need that their families can’t afford.
Counselor Julie Arentz said she is grateful for the community response.
“We’re a lucky community with a lot of different areas that support the school district. It’s one district that really works together to support the needs of all kids,” Arentz said.
The firefighters involved told News 8 Now it was a nice opportunity to give back to the community and make their presence known.
The Random Acts of Kindness account is funded by the community.
This year, they raised $1,200 for the Random Acts of Kindness fund.
