West Salem looks to future at after referendum fails
WEST SALEM,m — School officials in West Salem will have to go back to the drawing board after their referendum failed.
The $7.6 million measure was rejected by a margin of just 33 votes.
The funding would have been used to maintain current offerings for students in the district.
District Superintendent Troy Gunderson says the district’s needs haven’t changed.
“This is one of those things where the school board is going to continue to be at this in order to fund their schools or we’ll have to drastically reduce our services,” said Troy Gunderson, Superintendent of the School District of West Salem.
The district school board meets next Monday to consider what to cut from the budget.
