Westby moves on without starting running back

Mitchell Larson is a big reason Westby is off to a 5-0 start. Now the team will have to play the rest of the season without him.

Larson, the team’s starting running back, broke his leg in two places last week in their game at Elk Mound. He’s out for the rest of the season.

“It’s going to be rough,” junior quarterback Tanner Schmitt said. “We are going to need some guys to step up but I think they can do it.”

Head Coach Dan Nelson is confident that’s exactly what will happen.

“We have other guys who have been practicing all season to help us out and others are going to have to step up and provide that little bit of extra we will need to continue to be successful,” Nelson said.

Kickoff is 7:00 PM Friday night in Galesville.
