Westby survives five-set thriller against West Salem, improves to 20-1 on the season
The Westby Volleyball team faced its toughest challenge of the season on Tuesday night, but the Norse rallied in the fifth set by scoring five unanswered points and surviving a thriller against conference foe West Salem.
The two teams traded blows over the first four sets. The Panthers landed the first punch, dominating the first set, 25-12. Westby answered back in the second set, winning a back and forth battle and tying the match at a set a piece. The Norse took a 2-1 lead after the third set, but the Panthers clawed back and tied the match at 2-2, forcing a fifth and final set.
West Salem led 14-11 in the final frame, but the Norse answered with five straight points, securing the win and improving the team’s record to 20-1 on the season.
