Western students to build 3 energy-efficient homes in La Crosse
Ground is broken on a new project to train local students to build for the future.
Western Technical College is ready to start transforming a residential pocket in La Crosse’s 24th street neighborhood, specifically where the old Hillview Urban Agriculture greenhouse is standing.
In its place, students will help build three energy efficient homes.
It’s a hands-on opportunity for the future home builders to learn skills to improve our community. “We will have the expertise in our community that we believe will help develop more highly energy efficient homes for replacement housing all throughout La Crosse,” said Western President Lee Rasch.
The homes will be built over the next two years. After that, they will be placed on the market.
