Western Technical College construction plans move forward

Latest project includes new walkway

Western Technical College is moving forward with the plans to improve its campus.

The latest project on the agenda includes a new walkway in the courtyard located between the Academic Resource Center and the new Integrative Technology Center that’s still being built. The walkway would embody a lot of sustainable elements already found on campus.

The construction and type of pavement used will retain storm water, rather than having it run off site. It will also preserve the trees on campus while giving students and staff easy access to campus.

“For the facility itself, we have a lot of people transitioning through the area, and it’s a connector path for our community so this actually is an improvement in the area, maintains a level of security that we have established across campus, with good lighting,” said Western Technical College Facility Director Jay McHenry.

The new walkway project is expected to start next summer.
