Western Technical College offering free tax assistance events
LA CROSSE, Wis. (WKBT) — Those looking for free tax help this season can find it at Western Technical College.
The free tax assistance events are available for individuals and married couples who made less than $66,000 last year.
People can get one-on-one help with their returns, or can use the website MyFreeTaxes.com to file on their own with a volunteer assistant available to answer questions. Organizers say the tax assistance events help everyone involved.
“We believe in helping our community not only for the benefit of the student learning so our students getting experience in a real situation, but also for the benefit of our community becoming stronger and people learning how to file their taxes,” said Western Technical College Community Engagement Coordinator Kari Reyburn.
Thursday night’s event goes until 8 p.m. The final two events are on March 17 and April 7.
Walk-ins are welcome but they are not guaranteed a one-on-one session.
