Western Technical College students recieve scholarships
A group of students at Western Technical College received $1,000 scholarships from the Great Lakes Higher Education Corporation.
Twenty students in the college’s apprentices program will be able to use the money to pay for books tools and other expenses.
Students within the program gain experience and skills through full-time jobs.
Teachers say that despite working full-time jobs, college is still expensive.
“For many apprentices, it’s hard to make ends meet. They’re working full time but sometimes that added expense of equipment, tools, tuition and books adds up quite a bit for them. This really helps offset them,” said Bob Marconi, an associate dean with Western Technical College.
If you are interested in enrolling in one of Western’s apprenticeships, there will be a career fair on Wednesday Feb. 15 in the Lunda Center.
