WIAA denies Coulee-SWC partnership

STEVENS POINT, Wis — In its first meeting of the 2013-14 academic year, the WIAA denied a proposal involving partnerships between high school athletic conferences in the Coulee Region.

The final consideration of a Board-modified conference realignment proposal involving the Coulee, Mississippi Valley and Southwest Wisconsin Conferences would have maintained the current conference structure with a mandate to schedule two football-only crossover games between the Coulee Conference and Southwest Wisconsin Conference by the 2014 season.

The Board anticipates the presentation of another plan at its meeting in September.

The Board also conducted its 2013-14 officer elections. Mike Beighley, the district administrator at Whitehall, was elected president-elect.
