WIAA tells Royall athlete she can’t compete at sectionals
A Royall High School athlete got some bad news before she was about to compete.
Jessica Morin has a prosthetic leg and has been competing this track and field season in the wheelchair shot put.
Jessica and her coach thought she could compete in the wheelchair events at sectionals because she has a disability that limits her mobility which is a requirement set by the WIAA. But, the WIAA told her she can’t compete because she doesn’t use a wheelchair full-time.
“I was kind of mad about that because I am handicapped and they’re basically saying I’m not handicapped enough,” says Jessica.
The WIAA is letting Jessica compete in exhibition track and field event, but that means she doesn’t have a shot at going to state.
