WIAA Track & Field sectional results
A large number of local athletes qualified for next week’s State Meet in La Crosse after competing well at sectionals on Thursday.
Individuals in Division 1 qualify for State by finishing top three in their event, while the top four in the other two divisions make it to UWL.
In Division 1, Onalaska qualified for State in 10 events during the Madison Memorial sectional:
- Landon Peterson won the long jump with 23 feet, 2 inches. He also won the 110 hurdles with a time of 15.05, and the 300 hurdles with a mark of 39.74. Hudson Weber finished right behind Peterson at 41.04 seconds to also qualify.
- The girls 4×800 relay of Amalia, Kora and Lydia Malecek plus Jillian Lonning won with a time of 9:33.89.
- The girls 4×400 relay of Amalia, Kora and Lydia Malecek plus Jillian Lonning qualified with a time of 4:02.54.
- The girls 4×200 relay team of Jenna Richgels, Taylor Molling, Josie Blum and Alli Thomas qualified with a time of 1:48.58 (third place at sectionals).
- Lydia Malecek won the 800 meter run with a time of 2:13.56.
- Amalia Malecek won the 1600 meter run with a time of 5:12.24.
- Kora Malecek won the 3200 meter run with a time of 11:06.16.
- The boys 4×400 relay team of Nicky Odom, Hudson Weber, Jacob Oyen and Landon Peterson won with a time of 3:27.87.
Holmen’s Kaden Banks qualified in the shot put with a throw of 50 feet, 8 inches, and the discus with a throw of 192 feet, five inches. Tanner Groshek qualified in the 800 run with a time of 2:02.13. Kellen Lomas qualified in the pole vault by clearing 13 feet.
Central’s Jackson Warren qualified by winning the 100 dash at 11.5 seconds. The boys 4×200 relay of Quinn Servais, Jobe Neusius, Isaac Dauffenbach and Warren won with a time of 1:30.48. Dauffenbach also qualified in the 200 meter dash (23.27 seconds).
In the final team scores, Onalaska tied for third with 77 points. Onalaska’s boys team won with a score of 91.5.
In Division 2, G-E-T’s Luke Vance continued his streak of sweeping the 100, 200 and 400 meter dashes during his sectional in Osceola.
In Division 3, the Cashton girls 4×200 relay of Adelynn Hyatt, Braylee Hyatt, Jaiden Hansbery and Annie Schreier won at sectionals and set a new school record with a time of 1:46.83.
