Winners unveiled in Winter Rec Fest Button design contest

Contestant wins 6 years in a row

The weather looks like it will be just warm enough to survive some of this year’s Winter Rec Fest activities, and the now the annual event has a button to go with it.

The winners of the Rec Fest Button Design competition were announced Thursday at the Black River Beach Neighborhood Center.

There were four different age groups who submitted designs. Employees at city hall then voted on the designs.

One of the designers has won the contest for the past six years.

“I’m very proud,  I remember when I won it my second year in a row they were surprised because they never had a person win it two years in a row but it’s now six so. I tried something new this year and I wasn’t really 100% sure if it was going to come out good, but hey I won,” said Ryan Olson of the 15-17 year old division.

Other winners included Norah Poellinger of the 6 and under age group,  Matthew Jarret from 7-10 year olds, and Aryell Yang of the 11-14 year olds.
