Winona State enters postseason on 20-game win streak

The postseason begins this week for the Winona State softball team.

The Warriors are 40-6 overall, 23-3 in the NSIC. They earned the No. 2 seed for the conference tournament, and they’re not a team anyone wants to face.

Winona State is on a 20-game win streak.

“We don’t focus on the win streak. Half of us didn’t even know it was happening and that we had a record. That’s not what it’s about,” Warriors second baseman Jenny Nelson said. “Just play the game that’s ahead of us at that time. We’re definitely rolling right now and we’re all together. We know what we’re playing for at this point, freshman to senior, everybody’s stepping up the way they need to.”

Winona State faces either the winner of the Upper Iowa/Minot State game or the winner of the University of Mary/Concordia-St. Paul game. The highest seed will be the Warriors’ opponent. That game will be May 1st at 2 p.m. in Sioux Falls, South Dakota.
