Winona’s Jazz Jam helps raise money for Afghan refugees
WINONA, Minn. (WKBT) — It is the season of giving and one Winona non-profit is giving back to Afghan refugees through music.
At the 2022 Jazz Jam, musicians got to share their talents and help raise money for the Winona Afghan Support Network.
People sang, played the ukelele and encouraged everyone to join in.
The jams have donated nearly $18,000 to Winona area non-profits since last April.
Organizers say it was tons of fun for everyone involved.
“It is just a fun afternoon, no pressure,” said H30 Jazz Trio founder Eric Heukeshoven. “We’ve had everything from four-year-old playing maracas to a 94-year-old playing trumpet.”
If you would like to help out and donate money to the Winona Afghan Support Network, they are taking donations on their website.
