Wis. ex-deputy gets 3 years for sexual assault
WAUSAU, Wis. (AP) — A former Langlade County deputy who was convicted of sexually assaulting a child has been sentenced to three years in prison.
A WSAW-TV report says 26-year-old Michael Brayton will have to register as a sex offender.
Brayton reached a plea deal in January in which he pleaded guilty to second-degree sexual assault. Prosecutors say he had inappropriate relationships with teenage girls, including sexual contact with a 15-year-old.
One victim says Brayton texted 10 to 15 nude photos of himself to her.
He apologized to his teenage victims, who weren’t in court for Friday’s sentencing. He also apologized for tarnishing the reputation of the Langlade County sheriff’s department.
Brayton faced a maximum prison sentence of 40 years. Prosecutors had asked for an 11-year sentence.
