Wisconsin commission OKs studies for 6 highway projects

MADISON, Wis. (AP) — The state Transportation Projects Commission has approved six Wisconsin highway projects for further environmental studies.

The commission met Wednesday in Madison. Its approval marks the next step for the six projects, which are still considered potential project candidates pending further review.

The highway projects involve improvements to:

— a six-mile segment of Interstate-94 in St. Croix County
— a 19-mile section of US-12 in Dane County
— a 56-mile stretch of Interstate 39/90 in Dane, Columbia and Sauk counties
— a nine-mile corridor of US-51 in Dane County
— a 14-mile segment of Interstate 43 in Milwaukee and Ozaukee counties
— a 3.5-mile stretch of Interstate 94 in Milwaukee County.
