Wisconsin DOT warns drivers to look out for deer

WisDOT wants drivers to be careful as deer activity increases

LA CROSSE, Wis. (WKBT) — It’s a busy time of year for deer, and the Wisconsin Department of Transportation is warning drivers to be careful.

Deer activity ramps up at this time of the year as they’re searching for places to give birth and the young deer are on their own for the first time. That means more deer are likely to dart across the roads.

The DOT says the best way to avoid hitting a deer is to slow down and be especially careful in the early morning and evening hours.

Last year, there were more than 18,000 car-versus-deer crashes in Wisconsin.
