Wisconsin election officials discussion schedule for results reporting

Polls close November 3rd at 8 p.m. in Wisconsin

MADISON, Wis. (WKBT) – Two weeks from Tuesday, polls will close across Wisconsin as election night draws to a close.

But there will still be work to be done for election officials in the state.

While there are no new laws, due to an increase of absentee voting, the Wisconsin Election Commission is providing guidance.

As a reminder, currently any ballot must be recieved at the polling place by 8 p.m. on election day.

Once canvassing starts, ballots need to be counted without a break.

Two hours after ballots are completed, they must be sent to the county.

Once an unofficial count is gathered, each county in Wisconsin will list the unofficial results online.

“This means counties also have to remain available and open to be able to post those unofficial results within two hours of receipt,” said Wisconsin chief election official Meagan Wolfe.]

Following election night, election officials have until December 1st to certify the results.
