Wisconsin GOP lieutenant governor candidates share perspectives at Monroe County forum

SPARTA, Wis. (WKBT) — Western Wisconsinites got the chance to learn about GOP candidates for lieutenant governor on Sunday.

The forum, put on at the Sparta American Legion by the Republican Party of Monroe County, was open to the public.

There, candidates introduced themselves and answered questions about drug control policies, policing and the economy, among other topics.

“This forum is very important because I think it’s important to talk to Western Wisconsin about these issues. I think Western Wisconsin is often forgotten about in our ticket and in statewide politics,” said David Varnam, one of the candidates who attended the forum.

GOP candidates for lieutenant governor include David King, Will Martin, Roger Roth, Patrick Testin, David Varnam, Cindy Werner, Jonathan Wichmann and Kyle Yudes.

All eight candidates were invited to participate.

Peng Her and Sara Rodriguez are the democratic candidates.

The primary election for both parties will take place on August 9.
