Wisconsin High School Theatre Festival in La Crosse

There is an old quote in theater, “If all the world is a stage, act.”

If that’s true, La Crosse is definitely in the spotlight this weekend.

More than 1,500 high school students are at Viterbo this weekend for the 2018 Wisconsin High School Theatre Festival.

Students are performing one act plays and attending workshops on all things theater.

While the weekend is fun for the actors, the focus goes beyond the stage.

“The purpose is educational, primarily. It’s evaluative, so they have to make it through a district level and a sectional level where they get feedback from adjudicators or judges,” said Adam Jacobi, Executive Director for the Wisconsin High School Forensic Association.

The competition isn’t open to the public, due to the amount of actors in attendance.

The Wisconsin state Theater festival started in 1930.
