Wisconsin income tax filing deadline nears

MADISON, Wis. (AP) — Wisconsin Department of Revenue officials are encouraging taxpayers who were granted an extension and have not yet paid to do so electronically.

Taxpayers who filed an extension with the Internal Revenue Service automatically receive a state extension.

Even though the extension allows taxpayers to avoid late filing fees, the state does charge 1 percent interest per month starting April 18.
