Wisconsin officers find drugs near 1-year-old’s playpen

SHEBOYGAN, Wis. (AP) — Sheboygan County investigators who were serving a search warrant at a home found two young children home alone, including a 1-year-old within reach of marijuana.

Twenty-six-year-old Rebecca S. Ramirez was charged Tuesday with felony marijuana possession and two misdemeanor counts of child neglect. A Sheboygan Press report says the charges carry a maximum penalty of nearly 10 years in prison.

Prosecutors say the county’s drug unit watched Ramirez’s home for two hours on Nov. 4 and saw no one come or go. They entered the home and found a 4-year-old in a bathroom and a 1-year-old in a playpen.

Authorities say the playpen was within arm’s reach of a marijuana bud, a bottle of tequila and a pushpin.

Online court records didn’t list a defense attorney for Ramirez.
