Wisconsin rep seeks academy applicants

MADISON, Wis. (AP) — A Wisconsin congresswoman is seeking applicants for the nation’s service academies.

U.S. Rep. Tammy Baldwin, a Madison Democrat, says she needs completed applications for the U.S. Military Academy, the Naval Academy, the Air Force Academy or the Merchant Marine Academy by the end of business on Monday, Oct. 17.

Applicants need a congressional nomination to enter any of the four academies. Baldwin says applicants must have a strong academic record, strong leadership potential and pass a physical aptitude test. They also must be U.S. citizens, high school graduates between the ages of 18 and 23 and can’t have any dependents.

An application form is available on Baldwin’s website or by contacting her office.
