Wisconsin Republican legislators release environmental proposals
LA CROSSE, Wis. (WKBT) — Wisconsin Republicans unveil a set of proposals addressing air, water and soil in the state.
One of the bills, if passed, would help provide grants for businesses that are located along highways and major roads to install electric vehicle charging stations.
Other proposals would provide rebates for purchasing renewable energy and grants to support green energy job education and training.
A representative from our area says the proposals meet needs for the state’s people and environment.
“It’s something that we really have to look at, and we want to save the water, the earth and ground of the state of Wisconsin so we can actually, you know, preserve it for going forward,” said Wisconsin Representative Loren Oldenberg.
Money for the charging station matching grants would come from the settlement following the Volkswagon emissions scandal.
