Wisconsin River drowning victim identified
SPRING GREEN TOWNSHIP, Wis. (AP) — Sauk County officials have identified the Middleton man who drowned in the Wisconsin River.
The sheriff’s office says the victim is 22-year-old Mario Montes Ponce.
Emergency crews responded to Pecks Landing in Spring Green Township around 9:00 p.m. Thursday.
Officials say four people had been wading in the river when Ponce stepped into a deeper section of the river and went under water. Officials say he did not know how to swim.
