Wisconsin state Rep. Grigsby released from hospital

MADISON, Wis. (AP) — Democratic state Rep. Tamara Grigsby of Milwaukee has been released from the hospital after nearly a monthlong stay that included two weeks in intensive care.

Her spokesman Kevin Benish said Monday that the 37-year-old was released over the weekend. Benish says she survived the illness without suffering any brain damage.

He says Grigsby will not be able to return to the Assembly in time for Gov. Scott Walker’s State of the State speech on Jan. 25, but she hopes to get back to work soon.

Benish says Grigbsy had been treated for cancer but it’s not clear what was the cause of the ailment that put her into the hospital last month.

She was elected in 2004 and is a member of the budget-writing Joint Finance Committee.
