WKBT airs gubernatorial debate Oct. 10
WBA Foundation also sponsors debate in Milwaukee Oct. 17
LA CROSSE, Wis. (WKBT) — WKBT aired a gubernatorial debate between Governor Scott Walker and Democratic Challenger Mary Burke on Friday, October 10 from 7- 8 p.m.
Jill Geisler was the debate moderator. She is a WBA Hall of Fame member, author and Poynter Institute Senior Faculty, Leadership and Management. The debate panelists were Judy Clark from WEAU-TV, Keith Edwards from WQOW/WXOW-TV, Mike Thompson from WKBT-TV and Shawn Johnson from Wisconsin Public Radio.
The event was held in Eau Claire and was not open to the public. You can follow the debate by searching for #WBAgov14 on social media.
The WBA Foundation will sponsor a gubernatorial debate in Milwaukee on October 17 from 7 – 8 p.m. Erin Toner will be the debate moderator. She is from WUWM-FM and a frequent moderator on NPR. The debate panelists will be Charles Benson from WTMJ-TV, Ted Perry from WITI-TV, Mike Strehlow from WDJT-TV and Kent Wainscott from WISN-TV.
WBA Foundation President & CEO Michelle Vetterkind will provide the opening and closing remarks for both debates.
“The WBA Foundation is honored to continue the tradition of these important debates as part of the civic and political process,” Vetterkind said.
“Political debates provide excellent opportunities for voters to hear directly from the candidates, and I am looking forward to holding spirited and thoughtful discussions regarding the future of Wisconsin,” Walker said in a statement.
“Thank you to WBAF for hosting these important debates about the future of our state. I look forward to a robust discussion about the challenges we face, and how Wisconsin can do better,” Burke said in a statement.
