Worker dies after accident at eastern Iowa plant

RIVERDALE, Iowa (AP) — Authorities say a worker has been fatally injured in an accident at the Alcoa Davenport Works plant in Riverdale.

Alcoa spokesman John Riches says the accident happened just before 8 p.m. Monday. Riches says the man was pronounced dead later at a Davenport hospital.

The man’s name has not been released.

The accident cause is being investigated. Work at the aluminum plant was briefly halted on Monday night, and some workers went home early.

The plant employs about 2,200 people.
