Worker injured in Iowa grain elevator flash fire
OTHO, Iowa (AP) — Authorities are investigating the cause of a flash fire at an Otho grain elevator that injured a construction worker.
Webster County Sheriff Jim Stubbs tells the Fort Dodge Messenger that the worker was taking apart equipment with a torch at the top of the elevator the fire occurred.
The worker, whose has not been named, was burned on his arms and face. Authorities did not reveal how serious the burns were.
NEW Co-op Safety Manager Dennis Knight say the cause of the fire is not yet known. Knight says one theory is that something atop the elevator may have been knocked loose, hitting the torch and causing the flash fire.
