World Food Prize Hall of Laureates unveiled
DES MOINES, Iowa (AP) — The unveiling of The Norman E. Borlaug World Food Prize Hall of Laureates has kicked off a week celebrating the World Food Prize, which will be awarded later this week in Des Moines.
The Des Moines Register reported the World Food Prize Hall of Laureates was unveiled during a ceremony Sunday, where local and state officials met with the architects, engineers and artists who remodeled the century-old Des Moines library building. It features artwork, murals and the awards Borlaug won.
The World Food Prize was founded by Borlaug, an Iowa native who won a Nobel Peace Prize in 1970 for his work to end world hunger.
World Food Prize President Kenneth Quinn says the building is a dream come true and will help promote economic development, education and tourism.
