Xcel Energy sending crews to Florida to help restore power after Hurricane Ian

LA CROSSE (WKBT )– Xcel Energy is sending support to Florida as Hurricane Ian makes landfall.

According to the company, 270 contract workers from eight states are on their way.

14 of the volunteer workers are Wisconsinites, including 9 who are on standby.

Xcel is part of a mutual assistance program that helps speed up power restoration after US major storms.

Wisconsin Red Cross volunteers are also being deployed, driving three Emergency Response Vehicles carrying food, water, and emergency supplies.
