‘Y Cycle Weekend’ to benefit Strong Kids Campaign, area conservation
BRICE PRAIRIE, Wis. — More than 200 racers will participate in the Y Cycle Weekend in Brice Prairie and Holmen on June 29 and 30. The races begin at 9 a.m. both days.
The money raised from the Brice Prairie Time Trials (BPTT), the Y30 Road Race and the Y NOT 30 Ride benefits the La Crosse Area Family YMCA’s Strong Kids Campaign, renovations at Swarthout Park in Brice Prairie, and conservation of the Prairie.
On Saturday morning, about 130-150 racers will participate in the BPTT, a 26.2 mile time trial consisting of three loops around Brice Prairie. It begins and ends at Swarthout Park.
About 75-100 people will participate in the Y30 or the Y NOT 30 on Sunday. The Y30 is a hilly road race that starts and finishes at Evergreen Elementary School in Holmen. The Y NOT 30 is new this year.

Johnson says about 130 volunteers help make the weekend run, from setting up the park (which they did Friday morning), to guiding participants along the route and making sure traffic stops so they can safely cross busy streets.
