Yankees acquire McCutchen for 2 prospects

The New York Yankees acquired former NL MVP Andrew McCutchen from the San Francisco Giants on Friday for two prospects.

After reports of the potential trade broke Thursday, the teams made the deal official with announcements on Friday, the final day for trades to be done for newly acquired players to be eligible for postseason rosters.

The Giants will receive infielder Abiatal Avelino and right-hander Juan De Paula while also sending cash to New York along with McCutchen in the deal.

The 31-year-old outfielder is hitting .255 with 15 home runs, 55 RBIs and 13 stolen bases so far this season. He is making $14.75 million this season in the final year of an extension signed in 2012.
