YMCA holds kids’ triathlon
LA CROSSE, Wis. (WKBT) — While some learned about staying active, 200 kids got active by signing up for a triathlon.
The YMCA Kids Tri, also in its sixth year, is an event composed of swimming, biking and running. It’s a fundraiser that helps with the Community Teen Center. The distance of the races varied with the age groups. It’s an event that kids take with them.
“A lot of kids these days might be staying inside playing more video games, watching a lot of TV, and I think having events outside that really create a sense of fun and a unique experience, [it’s] really important for kids,” said Travis Pernsteiner, community special event director for La Crosse’s YMCA.
Money from the Triathlon will go toward providing memberships to deployed military families and for membership financial assistance.
