Youth ambassador, button design winner revealed for annual Dragon Boat festival
LA CROSSE, Wis. (WKBT) — This year’s Youth Ambassador to the annual Big Blue Dragon Boat festival is revealed.
Vanessa Smith will represent the Boys and Girls Club of Greater La Crosse at this year’s events. The 17-year-old high school junior has been with the Boys & Girls Club for 6 years, and says she’s always enjoyed the Dragon Boat festival.
“I liked that in our boat we were family. We weren’t just there to paddle and then go home and be done. We were there to make a group connection and become better people,” said Dragon Boat Youth Ambassador Vanessa Smith.
Along with a new ambassador, Claire Walters was revealed as the button design winner.
This year’s festival is on July 21. Money raised through the event will go toward healthy living programs at the Boys & Girls Clubs, and Mayo Clinic Health System’s Center for Breast Care.
